Operating System (OS) does not support some of the libraries or framework used e.g .NET, please see the .NET Life-cycle
Microsoft stopped suporting the framework version or reaches its End Of Support(EOS)

These also serve as one of the reasons why you should stick to the current membership that way you can have the latest updates, especially if you plan to use the software in long term.
